So, exactly what happens to Kivia Patausche?
After she’s sentenced to be a hero in the latest episode, spoiler warning. After Capsen sentences her, Kivia becomes the final addition to the heroes and is assigned to penal units 9004 alongside Xylo and the others. The 13th order dispands and the members treat Kivia with hostility, seeing her as a traitor to humanity. However, over time, their respect for her slowly outweighs their resentment. Now, within the penal unit, Kibia quickly proves herself as one of the most valuable members. Even Xylo admits that in close-range combat, her skills are unmatched, with it even being stated that she’s a better swordsman than him.
Jayce also suggests that her overall skill is second only to Tatsuya. Simply put, she is one of the strongest swordsman in the entire kingdom. Additionally, beyond her combat’s ability, Kivia steps up as a leader. Whenever Xylo is absent or preoccupied, she naturally takes on the role of a deacto tactical commander. Of course, she’s not perfect.
While she’s insanely powerful on the battlefield, her cooking is a completely different story. It’s so bad that some members genuinely dread it. So yeah, Kivia ends up being a huge addition to the penal units and will go on to be instrumental in many battles such as a retaking of the second
So, there’s a lot of haters for Kivia, especially among anime onlyies, due to her essentially being a giant hypocrite. But what happens to her moving forward? Kivia will be able to experience all of that hatred for heroes, but this time on the receiving end. To understand what exactly happened, I first need to give you guys some context.
Within humanity exists the secret radical faction known as the coexisters. They believe humanity’s defeats by the demon blight is inevitable. So instead of resisting, they choose to collaborate. Now, as for Kivia Patausche, she later uncovers that her mentor and uncle, high priest Marlon Kivia, is a high-ranking coexisttor. When she tries to confront him, he attacks her and her subordinate, Heathrow, dies, saving her life.
At this point, Kivia Patausche has no other choice but to kill her uncle. This then results in her getting arrested for both of the murders. and accused of being a co-exist herself who’s plotting an insurrection. After they try to force her to falsely confess, Kivia was left with two choices. Accept the death penalty and die branded as a traitor or become a hero. Anyways, full of them are sent us to be hero content.
Xylo’s reaction to this:
As we know, Kivia has feelings for Xylo. During her monologue with Kasan right before her sentencing, she even wonders what he would think of her being labeled a coexister. Spoiler warning, when Xylo first hears the news, he’s briefly shocked, but that quickly turns into suspicion. He immediately doubts the accusation, reasoning that Kivia isn’t clever or skilled enough to orchestrate a betrayal of mankind. Instead, he believes something doesn’t add up. In his mind, the supposed victims, High Priest Marlin or Rogit, are more likely to be involved, and he concludes that Kivia was set up by the coexisters.
After Kivia joins the penal units, Xylo grows tired of her constant grave expression and tries to lighten the mood by cracking jokes. He opens up and reveals that he’s been through the same thing. Xylo explains that he was also framed by the coexisters, which led to his own sentencing.
He had been ordered to rescue an isolated infantry only to realize it was a trap designed to lure his unit into an ambush. Reinforcements he was promised never came. His entire team was wiped out, and in the end he was forced to kill Sinerva before she could turn into a fairy, all because a false report orchestrated by the coexisters. Hearing Xylo’s story, Kivia finally opens up herself, confessing that her uncle Marlin was a coexister.
